About Me

I’m lucky enough to design and make jewellery full-time in the peace and quiet of my studio here in beautiful Hertford. Having studied ceramics at college I thought I’d return to that when the children were grown. Then I discovered silver and have never looked back. I draw heavily on mother nature for shapes, textures and colours and whilst silver is my first love I have started to incorporate found objects such as sea glass, pottery and shell as well as semi-precious stones into my work. Having always lived by the sea, holidays are spent beach combing and foraging for treasures to incorporate into my jewellery back home in Hertford. Since Covid I have begun Wild Swimming every day in the River Beane. This has kickstarted a passion only matched by my Silversmithing! I’m working on new designs-all swim related and inspired by the beauty I see on the River- to be released in Spring 2021.

I particularly love the concept of recycling and try to use recycled silver whenever possible. One of my passions is taking old broken and forgotten jewellery and turning it into something beautiful and modern to wear. We all have those single earrings or broken chains lurking in a drawer and it’s my pleasure to take on the challenge of restoring and transforming them. Commissions are always welcome so please contact me with any requests you may have.

It all started when…

I stumbled on a one-day silversmithing taster session at Art Shed in Hertford, my hometown. After only one class I was hooked and signed up for a six-week course. I learned so much from my amazing tutors, Melinda Scarborough and Sarah Lamb. I had studied ceramics at college and thought I’d return to that when my children were grown. At the time, I couldn’t justify another college course, so I studied every book, every YouTube video and taught myself a range of skills from casting to etching.

I continue to learn new things every week - not least how to navigate a web site! I’m going to try and incorporate my other passion - wild swimming - into my work…I have several exciting new designs coming in Spring.
